Where RS&M stainless steel powder is used after sintering

The core market we serve.

Sintered porous metal filter cartridges

Our 150–250 mesh water-atomized 316L and 304L powder is purpose-engineered as the raw material for sintered metal filter cartridges used in compressed-gas filtration, hydraulic fluid filtration, polymer melt filtration, high-temperature gas filtration, and steam systems. The irregular cauliflower morphology produced by water atomization gives strong inter-particle necking during sintering, producing predictable porosity and burst strength. Multi-layer cartridges (coarse support layer + fine filtration layer) typically combine 150-mesh and 250-mesh feeds from the same heat to keep chemistry consistent through the depth of the wall.

A growing share of our shipments.

PTFE membrane-laminated filter cartridges (覆膜滤芯)

When a sintered metal cartridge serves as the substrate for a laminated PTFE membrane, the substrate's surface roughness, pore-size uniformity, and sintered neck integrity determine how well the membrane bonds and how the cartridge survives reverse-pulse cleaning. Our finer 250-mesh fraction is graded for low-roughness substrates suitable for membrane lamination. We work directly with membrane converters on substrate trials.

Capability we are expanding.

Powder metallurgy & MIM feedstock

Water-atomized stainless steel powder is a cost-effective feedstock for press-and-sinter PM components, sintered structural parts, and binder-jet additive manufacturing. For MIM applications that traditionally specify gas-atomized spherical powder, we can provide finer fractions of water-atomized powder (-325 mesh and below) for cost-driven applications. We accept custom PSD and oxygen-content targets — minimum trial order 25 kg.

Selected fractions, by request.

Thermal spray & surface engineering

Coarse fractions of our water-atomized 316L can be used for arc-spray and selected thermal-spray processes where particle deposition behavior tolerates irregular morphology. We do not stock plasma-spray-grade gas-atomized spherical powder; for high-end thermal-spray applications we will refer you to a partner.

Open to exploration.

Other industrial powder applications

Friction materials, brake pads, electrical contacts, weighting fillers, soft magnetic composites — we welcome inquiries from any industry where stainless steel particulate is a fit. Small-quantity trial orders are available.
